ks-rays of sunshine
An update!
Many, many things have happened since my last update. To name a few:
1. Somehow I injured my foot. Some may say it's because of my ultra-fashionable Puma shoes. Others may say it's because they need to fix the sidewalks in Krakow so that people don't twist their ankles every 10 feet. But regardless of the cause, I will share with you my first experience with a Polish doctor. Well, really only the most memorable experience... going for the x-ray. Which is not called x-ray in Polish because there is no letter x in the Polish alphabet. So for the sake of this entry, I will call it ks-ray. (Also not the correct term... do not attempt to go to a Polish hospital and ask for a ks-ray.)
So. I went to the doctor and she requested that I go for a ks-ray to see if one of my toes was broken. I complied with this request. Iwona, my coworker, went with me to the ks-ray office. When we arrived, Iwona went to talk to the ks-ray operator, and I went to the bench to sit down, given the extreme pain in my foot. Ks-rays in Poland are not as expensive as ks-rays in America.... because this is Poland. So I was expecting to pay around 50 zloty, which would be about $17 give or take. Something like that. Ridiculous, right? Ks-rays in America cost $400 sometimes!
When Iwona returned from her discussion with the ks-ray operator, she informed me of some very good news... they were having a promotion on ks-rays!!! Today was a special day and ks-rays cost only 25 zloty!!! That's less than $10!!!!!! But wait... promotions on ks-rays... what? I began to imagine flocks of the injured who held out all year on their ks-rays just to save a few zlotys. Think you broke your arm 4 months ago? Well, we have got the deal for you! Come one come all for your ks-rays!!!! Cheap cheap cheap! Been feeling a pain in your leg for the last 6 weeks? Get in here today for your discount ks-ray! Ah, yes. Iwona and I still have quite a chuckle over the ks-ray promotion. Another reason why Poland rules the school.
For those of you who are deeply concerned about the results of my ks-ray (and I know that's everyone reading this), it turns out that nothing was broken (thank goodness I went on promotion day!), and I have a new pair of non-fashionable non-Pumas.
2. We had Winter Camp! I will post pictures for you, because that's more fun than reading about it.
